Architecture Year 3 - The Borderland Trail

Architecture Year 3
Unit 1 - Hay and District Social Club
After the formation of the Borderland, the next brief received was to create a space or series of spaces within the town which could be represented at the scale of a room. I decided to produce an extruded drawing of the Borderland in a similar way to the extruded drawing produced of the town. I then walked the Borderland and documented its material, grain and texture and picked a series of important sites along the Borderland numbered below. These sites were chosen due to their relationships with opposing sides of the border, but also due to their cultural or historical significance. It was at these moments that I proposed small interventions to feature as part of a larger Borderland Trail, which would highlight the existence of the Borderland to people in Hay-on-Wye and Cusop and allow people to enjoy the freespace the border provided.
