The Lands of Arcania
I have aways loved maps. These sort of illustrations have always given me the chance to elude reality, waking up my mind and letting me imagine and visualize far, distant countries, sometimes real, sometimes not.
Being a child I tried to create my own land, ruled by the result of my thoughts, and acting like a reflexion of myself. Hundreds of them were born, being later left.
Nevertheless, one has been able to survive in the back of my mind for years, evolving and gradually changing its shape. Thus I decided to give it a chance.
Starting from a rough sketch made a decade ago I developed the idea, until finishing the composition, that I fairly define like a mix of J.R.R Tolkien's and Gerard Mercator's graphic styles, completed with my own vision of map crafting.
