This is my 5th concentration piece, I used leaves from a loquat tree that my mom had my brother pull before a wedding we have at my house this summer. This piece falls within my concentration of geometric shapes on nature. This time I used nature to create the geometric shapes and I used the contrast of black and bright colors on the front and back of the leaves. The piece is a pinwheel-like circle that consists of 17 leaves. I started this theme with no inspiration or reference but I realized while I was doing it I have found inspiration from Andy goldsworthy. Goldsworthy does instillation art in nature with nature, he uses nature to create geometric shapes or unnatural forms or gradients in nature. Next year I intend to do 3-D art which will resemble something kind of like this. I chose to use uncommon canvases in order to prepare for my class next year as well as expand my borders regarding what I can do artistically. I’m very pleased with my piece, although I could use a little more fastening for the center of the spiral. Overall I’m very proud of my series and what I was able to achieve through art.
