Hawksbill Salt Co.
Packaging for Sea Salt Flakes sourced from the Great Barrier Reef. The design is inspired by the Hawksbill Turtle, a species that uses the far northern section of the reef as a breeding ground. The pattern is drawn from the shapes on their shell, and the 'lid' is created to imitate the way shell of a turtle sits over its body. By using a material bag, instead of a common plastic, the packaging could be recycled/ reused.
The far northern section of the Great Barrier Reef is an internationally significant breeding area for the Hawksbill turtle. The turtle feeds on sponges and plays an important role in coral reef growth. This role is under threat as the numbers of Hawksbill turtle decline. Hawksbill Salt Co. is passionate about saving these turtles and helping with the survival of the reef, therefore 25% of profits from each product go to organisations that are committed to saving these turtles and our reef.
