Shayla

Shayla is a residential building designed with an aim of being absorbed with the existing society. The project was designed in a way where the building and people inhibiting it are becoming part of the outer community. Wanting to create that the glass in the building was maximized and terraces to the outside were also made.
Wanting to create privacy with outside there was no better way to do so other than to use the traditional clothing, which is the Shayla worn by the women of the U.A.E. The variety of the textures that is created by every time it is worn was embedded in the design of the building. By using the Shayla as a skin, physically there is a barrier, a protection from the outside, but visually there is a slight boundary between outside and inside.
