When school is fun

Summer film school Uherské Hradiště is a film festival with a unique and long tradition in the Czech Republic. Its aim is not just to entertain, but to educate - many of its attendees pursue a career in cinematography.

Designing a (fictional) visual identity for the 45. (!) year of the festival started off with a theme - Czechoslovak motion picture. Throughout its existence, the small country has accumulated a vast and rich legacy of quality movies, that map the culture of the times.

The diagonal stripe serves as a dynamic centerpiece of the identity, symbolizing an abstract, dynamic film reel. Orange sepia tint symbolizes history and age. Typeface was chosen as a hybrid middle-ground between modern, slick and artsy and old-time typewriter monospaced fonts.
