CASA MORCOS
La obra se implanta sobre la barranca del margen oeste del Rio del Valle en el noreste de la ciudad de Catamarca. El río es el límite jurisdiccional de la capital con la ciudad de Valle Viejo. A pesar de que ambas ciudades niegan el río, las condiciones paisajísticas del sector son excepcionales; las visuales hacia el Valle y el cerro Ancasti atraviesan un manto verde de vegetación autóctona que cubre toda la vista frente al terreno hasta cerrar con la zigzagueante cuesta del Portezuelo.
El emplazamiento se materializa a través de un zócalo de construcción tradicional que sirve para salvar el empotramiento en el terreno natural. Esta inserción se desplaza hacia el frente del terreno resguardando el bosque de álamos que hay por detrás.
Contemplar la naturaleza. Gestar una casa. Frente a un acontecimiento natural nos proponemos el desafío de repensar la idea de vivienda como un hecho simbólico de experiencia existencial.
La búsqueda se centra en la relación del objeto con el contexto, la materialidad y una nueva propuesta funcional para otorgar al conjunto la posibilidad de priorizar las visuales.
Tres niveles de planta cuadrada se superponen como estratos funcionales alternados (dormir/estar/dormir). Vinculados desde la planta central, los dormitorios se ubican en los extremos superior e inferior del volumen y están conectados por una escalera laminar metálica. Se arriba a la vivienda por el lateral sur para poder liberar todo el frente que otorga a todos los recintos la posibilidad de mirar-ser cómo un panóptico de Jeremy Bentham.
Un zócalo monolítico aferrado a la barranca retranquea su silueta para dejar flotar los niveles con estructura de perfiles de acero y revestidos exteriormente en madera y chapa cincada.
Tierra, naturaleza y aire están representados en la materialidad del objeto.

The work stands on the gully in the Western banks of the Río del Valle in the Northwest of the city of Catamarca. The river acts as the jurisdictional border between the capital of the province and the city of Valle Viejo. In spite that both towns neglect the river, the landscape conditions of the area are exceptional; views to the valley and to the Ancasti mountain range go through a green carpet of autochthonous vegetation covering the whole view in front of the piece until it closes with the winding road of Cuesta del Portezuelo.
The site is materialized through a traditional construction plinth that safeguards the building in the natural terrain. This insertion projects to the front of the land, keeping the poplar wood behind it safe.
Contemplating nature. Creating a house. In contrast to a natural event, our challenge is to rethink the idea of the home as a symbolic fact of existential experience.
The search is centered in the relation of the object with the context, the materiality and a new functional proposal, so as to give the entire set the chance of giving priority to views.
Three square levels are superimposed as functional alternated strata (sleeping/living/sleeping). Linked together from the central floor, bedrooms are located in the higher and lower ends of the volume, connected by a metallic laminar staircase. The entrance to the house is from the south, so as to release the front, which gives all the rooms the possibility of looking-being as Jeremy Bentham’s panopticon.
A monolithic plinth held tight to the gully plays as silhouette setback, letting the levels flow with the structure of steel profiles covered by wood and zinc sheets.
Earth, nature and air are represented in the materiality of the object.
