A 1500 square feet apartment designed for a new family (a young couple and a baby). This project was commissioned by a repeating client hence the designer was given full freedom for his creation and the only design brief is to create a baby-crawl-around-free environment.
In order to fulfill the baby friendly requirement, all furniture details and wall corners have been filleted or upholstered with soft pads. When the designer was trying to incorporate the requirement into proper design language, a radius of 250mm was adopted throughout the space, i.e. the ceiling features, wall detail, furniture, etc. this homogeneous form of treatment resulted with a very comfortable and unifying style.
Each functional area was given a filleted suspended ceiling feature that echoes to the layout plan arrangement, a harmonious atmosphere is immediately created.
The project stands out by breaking through the perception of a baby-friendly home that is usually covered with additional objects and/or being too cute. Project R250 is being described as the "cutest-elegant" home by many design magazine and media platforms.
