Science Gallery London- Spare Parts

The exhibition spare parts is displayed at the Science Gallery. A number of artists and designers have been featured from across the globe. Through their work, they explore the process of transplantation and regeneration of the human body. Lots of different medias are used within this exhibition, this allows us to look at the human body from different perspectives.

I personally really enjoyed this exhibition. I like the curation of the artworks because it is extremely abstract. From looking at the title of the exhibition, it can seem boring and more scientific but I think there was an equal amount of science and creativity. There was lots of different medias used like photography, film, sculptures etc. I was drawn to the photographs as I liked the way that they were taken from a forward perspective. They were close ups to show us the details of people in compromised health. I was drawn to the photographs of the door handle and the chair. The photo of the door handle reminds us of when people stay in hospitals. On the left side there is a curtain and on the right side there is a hospital gown, this reminds us of operations. The photograph of the chair gives us a sense of isolation, it shows how lonely it can be in a hospital. Both photographs give me a sense of silence as there are no people present in the photographs.
