The summer Olympics of 2028 will be held in Los Angeles, CA. With every instance of the games, it is crucial to create pictograms that read on an international level, while still being specifically unique to the hosting city's identity. The concept behind this set was to create a gender neutral character to portray each event. The design of this character was inspired by the iconic Los Angeles palm tree. While these trees are not native to LA itself, the tall, palm tree lined streets have become synonymous with the city of the angels, thus a perfect avatar for the high reaching aspirations of Olympic athletes. The head of the figure takes after the bushy palm stocks of, whereas the tall slender design of the body is modeled after the shape of the trunks of the trees themselves. A cool green color and blue green (for water sports) were chosen to capture the balmy nature of the famous LA beaches.

Each pictogram was carefully crafted for maximum readability as the Olympics is a world wide event, making it essential for the forms to be readable across cultures and languages.
