The company requested the label for its Apulian wine. The company requires the label to represent the Primitivo with its history and the Apulia with its connections to Greek history and Roman history.
Design
I started from a first analysis and research on the history of Primitivo and on the history of the Italian region Puglia.As highlighted by the client, the Primitivo and the Apulia are linked to Greek and Roman history.
The Primitivo originates from the lands of the province of Manduria where, in the expanses of the Apulian vineyards, grapes were grown from which they could produce one of the most famous wines in the world.
Taranto and its province were colonies of ancient Greece. In these lands the rebels and Spartans were sent into exile.
Project
For this project I collaborated with italian illustrator Alessio Sangregorio.
In this illustration, we can find the God Dionysus pouring the wine to the Spartan warrior who rests under a tree near the well. [ The tree and the well are symbol of the Manduria]
