A creative professional, Hampton Barringer Luzak has enjoyed a number of unique positions over the course of her career, including time as an on-air reporter and producer with MSNBC. In addition to her various professional interests, Hampton Luzak supports philanthropic organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The ASPCA is North America’s earliest humane society and one of the largest humane societies in the world. The organization primarily focuses on two key areas - - animal cruelty and animal homelessness. Animal homelessness is a particularly pressing issue in the United States. According to the ASPCA, approximately 7.6 million homeless animals enter animal shelters every year, and of these, close to 3 million are euthanized.

Individuals and families can support the ASPCA in their fight against animal homelessness in a number of ways, most effectively by spaying and neutering pets. The organization offers a number of low-cost spay and neuter programs. Not only do these programs prevent the birth of animals that families, as well as shelters, have no space or resources to care for, but they provide pets with a number of health benefits. Spay procedures are especially vital to the health of female pets, as 50 percent of intact dogs and 90 percent of intact cats develop malignant or cancerous growths.
