The captain of the team for 13 years, he earned a career total of 972 points, including 402 goals and 570 assists. He is responsible for 69 game-winning goals and led his team to the Western Conference Finals in 2012. Doan played 1,540 games over his career with the team before announcing his retirement in August 2017. He remains an active member of the Phoenix community.
