Personal Portfolio of Design Work
Recent works
As a high school design teacher I am surrounded by design every day. Unfortunately, as a full time teacher and night school instructor at our local junior college, I rarely have the time to just be creative. A few years back I decided that I would just make the time to get back to my creative roots. In pursuit of my design passions I have found a love for illustration, hand crafted design, and (of all things) a talent for making paper toys (see my other project file). I am not a commercial designer and do not have time to take on client work, so the work represented here is for my harshest critic - me.
This poster was developed for our school's first ever fall art festival.
Poster for the Design Associates winter banquet. I developed the Yanci the Yeti character for this poster and used him for a variety of projects.
Poster design for the Design Associates spring banquet. This event marked the formation of the Cabrillo High School Design Scouts Troop 1. I was assisted on this project by Trisha Bales who took my rather poor illustration and made the scout worthy of poster status.
This piece of artwork was created as a personal project and was eventually used as the cover artwork for the 08-09 Cabrillo High School yearbook.
I designed this poster as part of my "summer of creativity". I asked a small group of former students to get together once a week and work on a variety of design projects. At the time, the Cold War Kids were my favorite band and this imagery came to mind while listening to their music in heavy rotation on my iPod.
I designed this poster as part of my "summer of creativity". I asked a small group of former students to get together once a week and work on a variety of design projects. I had recently read a report about how Hurricane Katrina was continuing to effect the population of New Orleans two years later.
I designed this poster for an art trade using my Yanci the Yeti character.

More items created for the art trade using Yanci. Items included button sets, card packs, and a hand bound art journal featuring a fur cover and Yanci insert.
This magazine spread was designed for an in-house publication featuring my student's work titled VUE. This spread presented my student's work on skateboard, snowboard, and surfboard design.
Poster design for the Design Associates winter banquet 2008.
