Corrugated Board // Starpack Student Awards 2013

The Starpack Student Awards brief asked to design a non packaging product, currently made from other materials, such as plastics, metals, wood or composites, using corrugated board.

I created The Funboard. The Funboard is a product developed for children and made entirely from recycled, environmentally friendly, affordable corrugated cardboard.

The product consists of a series of A2 sheets featuring pre-cut shapes that slot together to form a 3D play set.
The Funboard range are blank canvases for children to play, create and decorate using paints, stickers, collage, pens, pencils - anything they desire.
The Funboard's let children’s imaginations run wild, and each Funboard has a different theme that children can choose from. Themes include ‘Let’s get creative and Go to the Farm, Go to Space, Go Under the Sea, Go to the Jungle plus many more.

The beauty of the product is in the simplicity of the design which allows the child to develop not only their skills but also their own creative mind which is vital for a child's development. The product is simple, and basic - which emulates the nature of corrugated cardboard. When the child no longer wants to play with The Funboard, it can be recycled, and due to the low cost of the product another one could be bought in it’s place.
