Legibility Words

Legibility Words is a research about digital typography inspired by Steven Heller's article The legibility wars of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

The publication consists of an overview of the type design world, starting from the 1984 up to the 2000s, recalling the debate on legibility of postmodern fonts.

The book is divided into four chapters in which the general context, the arrival of the computer, the early softwares to make fonts, and the birth of digital foundries are discussed. The last chapter shows a selection of postmodern fonts divided into categories.
This selection is also reproposed on the dust jacket of the publication.
