Kinstugi: Weave of Precious Scars

Kingtsugi: Weave of the Precious Scars
Kintsugi is a Japanese practice that highlights and enhances the breaks thus adding value to the broken object. This traditional Japanese art uses a precious metal – liquid gold, liquid silver or lacquer dusted with powdered gold – to bring together the pieces of a broken pottery item and at the same time enhance the breaks.
This element of minimum lacquer is what I have tried to achieve through the woven samples. Along with the joineries, I have also explored the glaze and the texture of a ceramic container.
In this warp, the qualities of a ceramic being glazed to mattified , the hints of gold and different gold intersections have been explored.
This is a cotton warp with double cloth as a structure. This warp has zari infused in the weft. We made some artworks with the help of keywords from the inspiration.

Sample 3- Intersections
Sample 4- Joineries
The next is a black cotton warp along with an extra warp of zari. This warp is about the rhythm of the golden joineries.
