Wilkins Farmhouse Cider - Uni Project

Wilkins Farmhouse Cider.
This was a brief set up by Taxi Studio to create packaging designs for Roger Wilkins Farmhouse Cider.
My solution was to create a piece of packaging that showed the relationship between the young and old aspects of Roger’s cider production by bringing two varying parts of visual imagery found at his farm (Blackletter& Graffiti) together into one piece of branding.
During my research, I found two pieces of imagery that could be used to add identity to the packaging design. One was an apparent graffiti artwork sprayed by Banksy and the other was a sign done in a blackletter typeface. I thought that these visuals showed two varying sides of Roger's farm. The old (the blackletter signage) and the new (the graffiti).
I thought that graffiti/spray painting and newspaper kind of went hand in hand as it is often used as a barrier to stop paint getting to areas it is not supposed to. I therefore, decided to wrap the bottles in a custom newspaper print which added an extra link to graffiti and spray paint but also allowed me to communicate more about Roger's farm on the bottle, which helps strengthen his identity within the product.

I tried to keep the content within the newspaper to follow the type of language Roger would use, which is a very typical west county dialect. Being from Devon this was pretty natural for me, using words like proper and 'ere.
This also helped to create quite a striking packaging design with the high contrast between the white of the newspaper print and the deep red of the blackletter type.
For the advertising, I created a couple of stencils and spray painted a couple of posters onto the newspaper print to keep within the theme.
