The objective of this project is to create an intricate, seamless pattern. The pattern was to become a tangible product, and become wrapping paper or textile objects.

Initially, I started to research pattern designs but I came to a conclusion that I could not formulate a pattern in my head. I was having trouble imagining the pattern. I then noticed patterns that included blobs and patterns that were made from psychedelic squares that changed from black to white as the shape reached its center. After sketching out a pattern that was a combination of the two I realized that this could be something and based my project off of this discovery. 

First I sketched out my design, not the total design, but outlines of the blobs on a tile. Next, I put my sketch onto Illustrator as a template and then used the Pen tool to create my blobs from my sketch. This next step was tricky. I copy and pasted the outline of each blob and shrunk the shape down. I did this continuously until I created an abstract image. I applied my color palette and turned it into a pattern by dragging the grouped shapes into the Swatches panel. 

I learned how to create a seamless pattern using Adobe Illustrator as well as how to better use the Pen tool. I go more experience creating Beziér curves and manipulating them into smaller similar objects. It was a challenge to make the shapes smaller within their parent shape because they would not fit sometimes. I had to manipulate individual points in order to get a similar effect. It was an enjoyable experience learning these new skills.
