Bio-Rad created an extremely flexible, modular chromatography system to fit the needs of researchers in a variety of fields. Their system allows researchers to design their own chromatography system to suit their needs and their available space.

The problem is that the system itself is too expensive, too customizable, and too bulky for sales people to take it with them.

Working with the team at Rival Schools we determined that the best option was to build an app that sales teams could use to effectively demonstrate the system. 

The app is effectively a brochure app, but in the end also uses augmented reality to allow users to visualize and configure the system in their workspace. This configuration can then be sent to Bio-Rad sales in order to process an order.

The app uses Unity3D for the augmented reality product configurator. Models of the system were built and animated in Cinema4D for video and interactive content in the app. 

Content for the app included video, rendered illustrations, interactive animations, and both 2D and 3D configurator tools. 

The project approach had a number of benefits. It allowed end-users of the product a way to familiarize themselves and take control of the purchase process. It also help reduce training time and costs for Bio-Rad's global sales team, getting them into market and effectively communicating the benefits of the system.
