JARDIN

Marguerite and Renard Jardin are a married couple from Nice, France who now live in Toronto. Working full-time, Marguerite teaches art history at the University of Toronto and Renard is a chef. Together they anticipate bringing the flavours of southern France to Yorkville, Toronto. Their goal is to create a fine dining experience that emulates the south of France - the food, the culture and the art. From a buiness stand point, the restaurant is targeted at upper income adults (from 35+) in Yorkville and the surrounding area, that will enjoy Provencal and Nicois dishes (Mediterranean cuisine) for lunch and dinner.

The design challenge is to create a brand system for the nouvelle cuisine. Showcased are deliverables as part of the branding: a series of posters hung around the restaurant or used for promotional events, coasters, branded plateware, stationary, and specialty tea tins. These products were designed to establish brand positioning as an upscale restaurant and successfully do so by the use of a consistent colour palette and imagery eluding to delicacies in French fine dining.
