Durante il corso di Storia delle Comunicazioni Visive ci è stato richiesto di condurre una ricerca su un autore assegnato, ripercorrendo la sua vita attraverso le sue citazioni e la reinterpretazione di una sua opera.
While attending the course of History of Visual Communications we were asked to conduct a research on an assigned author, retracing his life through his quotes and the reinterpretation of one of his works.
CONCEPT
In questo omaggio a Bradbury Thompson, esponente di spicco del graphic design americano del Novecento, abbiamo ripreso la struttura dell'opera "ROCK ROLL", stampata nel 1958 per la Westvaco Inspirations for Printers 210.
In this tribute to Bradbury Thompson, a leading exponent of the twentieth century American graphic design, we resumed the structure of the work "ROCK ROLL", printed in 1958 for the Westvaco Inspirations for Printers 210.
Partendo dalla citazione che esprime il pensiero di Thompson sull'ispirazione, riportata qui sotto, abbiamo deciso di attualizzare il soggetto all'interno dei dischi, sostituendo il musicista con un ragazzo che gioca a pallone. Questo per sottolineare maggiormente come l'ispirazione possa essere trovata ovunque, anche oggi.
La citazione si trova nel disco in CMYK, mentre il nome dell'autore è stato trattato come il titolo dell'opera originale, tenendo il nome in nero e il cognome nelle quattro tonalità della quadricromia.
Starting from the quote that expresses Thompson's thinking on inspiration, shown below, we decided to actualize the subject within the discs, replacing the musician with a boy who plays football. This is to underline more how inspiration can be found everywhere, even today.The quote is found on the CD in CMYK, while the author's name was treated as the title of the original work, bearing the name in black and the surname in the four tones of the four-color process.

Even everyday symbols can be made exciting. My inspiration has come from people, from places-both ordinary and exotic. Other things like children’s drawings especially hold such fundamental freshness"
