STEAK - Experimental stool design 2018

The main aim of my design process was to give an answer to the following question: How is it possible to make a stool consisting of only three components in a way it has never been done before?

I sought to find the structure that would serve this purpose the best, the specific kind of joint that is required to implement this and how could all these be an integral and essential part of the object instead of settling for a hidden solution.

It was another important goal for me to make the joint and the main shape from the same material, so that is indispensable that my solution is not about the material but the design.

Magnified, two-dimensional object, with the principles of the jigsaw puzzle applying into the three-dimensional world and into a furniture, thereby creating a morphological sculpture.

I lerarned a lot through the process of making STEAK. Here are the main steps from sketch till the working prototype.

The stool was displayed at three exhibition halls so far. It's first appearance was at Hungarian cultural event on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary. Then it was selected to be displayed in Stockholm at Greenhouse Furniture Fair 2019. Latest appearance of the stool was in Bucharest in 2019.
