We had the pleasure of working with Soraya Kelly in our university module which prompted us to design for change. Soraya launched her #TheGlovesAreOn campaign after her fight with breast cancer. Our brief was to launch a powerful campaign, fuelled by Soraya's passion and message that 'Early Detection Saves Lives'.

The first step that I took on this campaign was to brand Soraya to bring all of her campaign work together. The name Soraya translates as 'The Pleiades' which is a star constellation. I felt that this was a perfect starting point for my logo as Soraya brings people together just like a constellation of stars. The 'O' in Soraya forms the centre point of the constellation with the surrounding circles making up the other stars.
The campaign hashtag in the same style as the logo.
An initial idea for a poster campaign to encourage people to look for early stages and signs of cancer.

To work alongside the logo, I decided on an interactive approach for the campaign. My idea suggests that Soraya could use a custom Photo Booth which encourages friends, couples, families, of all ages to step inside and take part. The Photo Booth is filled with a variety of #TheGlovesAreOn props which the users can display to show that they're part of the fight. The Photo Booth screen would be programmed to display prompts such as 'Show Cancer that... We will fight!' encouraging the user to take a determined stance using the props provided. I wanted this aspect of the campaign to have an interactive approach to get absolutely everybody involved and join in the fight.
Props designed for the campaign
After taking the photos, the user will be presented with a printout and the option to send their photo via email.
The reverse of the photo print depicts an info card to help people spot the signs and symptoms of cancer. My aim is for users to keep their photos, meaning they will also keep this vital information which will be printed on the reverse.
Users that opt for a digital email copy of their email will receive the same information via email before they download their photograph.
Thanks to Soraya for allowing us to work on this project and good luck with your future campaigns.
