"Ensuring An Exceptional Institute Stayed Exceptional"

Repton is a prestigious and well-established school with more than 460 years of history and experience. They have produced alumni such as Georgie Twigg, Harold Abrahams, Christopher Isherwood and Roald Dahl. It cannot be understated that Repton is an exceptional institute.

I got onto this project by consulting for my sister about what needed to go into a brand manual. She and her husband had asked me some general questions about brand manuals/guides/bibles because they had just moved to India and started working at the new Repton School division. At the time, Repton Bangalore had only opened its day care to the public because the rest of the school was under construction. However, Repton were planning on opening the rest of the school and grades later that year.

This would involve a series of events, campaigns, ads and other various communications to the public about the schools big opening; in order to attract prospective parents and high-achieving students to attend the institute.

Many of the local marketing firms and agencies were now handling the brands communications and messaging in the lead up to the grand opening. This presented a challenge because Repton School didn’t have an official singular brand manual or any formal document to fast-track the processes. There were a couple of rules on the use of the brands assets and communications, but the degree to which these rules needed to be followed was never fully flushed out or explained.

What inevitably ended up happening was that several of the intermediaries were producing inconsistent communications that varied in tone, messaging and style both in terms of visually and the language used. These inconsistencies didn’t present the school well.

To solve this problem, I wrote out and designed a 60 to 90 page brand manual in order to help my sister and her husband successfully coordinate all the communications while simultaneously ensuring that the brands proud heritage, along with its prestige, was respected throughout all of its messaging and communications.
