Tianyi Picture Logo animation is a stereo film project produced in April, 2018, by After effects and photoshop.

In acient China, people hid stories in a fish and made it into a fish letter to keep the secret message.

The kid protects the glowing moon with a fish inside, running through the dark forest full of beasts. It presents the idea that people must protect their preciousness wherever they are. And for Tianyi Media, their preciousness is each of the good stories.

In the beginning, client requested a visual representation that could be favored by young people, meanwhile presenting some traditional Chinese aesthetics.

To achieve that, after series of discussion, we chose the direction of combining illustration with Chinese shadow puppet art. The project was built in 2D environment, which was proper for the motion of puppet animation. But it also meant that we had to handle the texture problem and stereo effects in 2D scene.

In the end, we managed to creat a translucent shadow puppet texture in photoshop after some tests.

And in order to present a better stereo effect, we tried to build different layers in After effects, to simulate how the depth of field changes when the camera focuses on and off.
