Intel AI Sphere Challenge at Google Next 18'

An 18’ tall video beacon combined with a hands on AI demo made our Intel activation the buzz of Moscone West. The maze running experience — featuring AI “sharks” that used reinforcement learning to find new ways to prevent attendees from navigating the maze was engaging, smart and the most tactile, memorable way for Intel to share its message at Google Next.
The Intel® Sphere AI challenge promotes a real experience of learning on Google Cloud.
We programed the autonomous “shark” spheres to have a cloud integration for the activation as a whole. The spheres will be connected to GCP VMs which will support node.js and python to run a Tensorflow app. This will enable the “Shark” Spheres to illustrate reinforcement learning (ML) running on Google Cloud.
I drew Inspiration from a variety of games to provide ways to bring competition and
play in the event experience to promote an up leveled engagement with attendees. These ideas mixed with research on the technology brought us to a place to integrate AI and Machine Learning.
Large dual sided LED Beacon had maximum attendee impact and was successfully utilized for broadcasting Intel messaging I animated, social media feed, demo content, and the AI Challenge camera feed.
I designed this course to have two main challenges that if you completed you would win a Sphero. Each course varied in difficulty and took time to master, but that challenge is what kept people around.
