BUDAPEST 03
A unique selection of urban symmetries has been included in BUDAPEST 03. In my previous series (Corner Symmetry, Urban Symmetry), I've looked at familiar buildings which we walk past every day and store their shapes in our consciousness. By inspecting these photographs, it is perhaps unclear which detail is real and which is artificially created. These series call the viewers and their observation skills on a playful adventure: in most cases, the apartments, offices and buildings which are showcased might be only known by real city dwellers.
By contrast, BUDAPEST 03 works with famous, popular - or even publicly disliked - buildings, which are columnar members of publications showcasing Budapest. Thanks to the exciting perspectives and angles, they reveal themselves in a new light, but in some images the environment changed: homogeneous skies and surreal colors surround the objects. Selecting these shades was a conscious effort, because each color has been sampled from a small element of the building itself. The BUDAPEST 03 series, therefore, offers a new way to explore Budapest's icons.
