TIMELINE

The diagnosis of any illness is a very stressful event for the patients and their families. During these times, patients, partners and other family members can suffer from clinical levels of depression and severe levels of anxiety and stress reactions. Considering the mentally strenuous journey that many patients and their families are on, alleviating feelings of stress
and anxiety should be a primary concern for the designing of waiting rooms within cancer treatment centres. How can the conventional waiting room environment be augmented to provide a reassuring, refreshing, and comforting experience?

We’ve design a kiosk which family members can pin in their patient’s codes to recieve updates on their medical status. The system is updated from portable tablets where an option is selected on the nurses end; that information is then transered through to the kiosk

A DESIGN SOLUTION THAT ATTEMPTS
TO ALLEVIATE HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM STRESS.

Nurse Interface: The images below depict the interface which the nurse (or doctor) can use to select what stage the patient is in. This information is then transferred to the kiosk and is visible to family members

Family Member Interface: The images below depict the interface of the kiosk which family members use to view their patient’s medical progress. After tapping the screen, family members then enter their patients code which is given to them
at reception. They can then view where their patient is in the process and tap their current stage to recieve information about their current treatment and the estimated time of that stage of treatment.
