Final Project: poster redesign
The assignment consisted on the redesign of a piece of graphic design. For years, I have always been intrigued by a "Graphic Style" that is used to promote parties in the latino-based neighborhoods of San Francisco. The style can be recognized because of its distinct bright color for the backgrounds and massive use of bold letters. I believe that two or more companies share this same style since some of the posters are printed digitally (fig.1) while others actually screen-printed (fig. 2) and have a better quality. The poster I chose had GRUPO MELAO 💦 (literally Melon Group!!) playing at EL TORO ✨🐂✨Night Club. Breaking down the meanings of the words and the cultural aspect of the event, I decided to explore a concept about "tropical vibes" with a colorful, vibrant and fun design. To wrap it up I painted the back of an actual poster I found "in the Mission".
