For Tri-Gamma's 10th annual Lung Health Fair, I was asked to design posters and social media assets depicting healthy lungs. I was inspired by the way the bronchioles of the lungs resemble roots. I decided to lean into the botanical theme. First, I drew the lungs in Illustrator and printed it out on a blank sheet of paper. Then I went in with markers and drew flowers and vines around the lungs (below, left). Next I scanned this back into Illustrator and traced my vines. I often find that my designs look much more organic and natural if I start with a physical drawing and work from that. All of the text on the poster is hand lettering I did myself.
