WHEEGO

Wheego is a wheelchair for public spaces such as museums and shopping centers available to everyone, enabling an ageing world population as well as those who have reduced mobility to take advantage of this solution by not feeling limited to attend spaces where Wheego is available.

Therefore, anyone can use this vehicle and put it back when it is no longer needed. Such places have smooth pavement, dry and without inclination, as well as appropriate access (ramps and elevators) for users of wheelchairs. By increasing the comfort of use, the number of visitors can also increase.

Wheego has two major features. Firstly the storage system. Just as shopping carts, the docking system of the chairs enables them to fit together in order to optimize the space through better storage, but also to be more accessible for the user. Secondly, as it is a single solid, there is no assembly operation. Thus it optimizes and simplifies the operation of the chair and counters the current system of folding / unfolding. Any excessive handling accelerates the degradation and makes it more expensive to maintain. Great care was taken both in the selection of all materials, such as cork and rubber cork, and in the manufacturing processes, in order to optimize the production of Wheego and make it cheaper.

Wheego wants to counter the image of "handicap people" moving in a wheelchair and equal people´s ability to move, regardless of their different physical limitations. With only two levers in a simple system like a ratchet spanner, the user gets a quality autonomous travel, combining great benefits such as posture, compared to the common ”handrim” mechanism.
