Middle-Earth Calendar

Middle-Earth Circular Calendar

J.R.R. Tolkien has created many calendars that are used in his books. Some calendars are more developed than others which made my research for this challenging. I decided to synchronize our calendar, called the Gregorian calendar, with those used by Men and Hobbits in The Lord of The Rings, considered to be the end of the Third Age of Middle-Earth. I used the term Shire Reckoning for the Hobbit calendar (outer ring) and Sindarin for the calendar of Men (middle ring). The names of the weekdays are also from the Shire calendar. The most interesting part is their holidays are in between months. So on each solstice, and each harvest, they have dedicated days to celebrate. I used a bright color palette and a circular design for easy conversion between calendars. The font is one I created myself based off of Tolkien's penmanship thus making this calendar a great type specimen as well.
