Inspirational Photographer- Edo Kars
Edo Kars is a still photographer, visual artist and director. Kars studied audio visuals and photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. After that Kars spent a couple of years being an assistant to several photographers with different specialties. From this Kars had a lot of experience with different photography techniques. Kars has now been in the photography Industry for over 20 years, his portfolio includes many different genres of photography, such as portraiture, advertising, landscapes, interiors and more. Cars advertising photographs always show his technical experience but his photographs always portray emotion as well.
‘The diversity of my work keeps me focused. If I would be shooting for example only cars, or stills or just the opposite only fashion, I would get bored. To get the chance to do every time something different, not only in subject but also in style, that keeps me sharp and inspired. Being part of a team of the best people that we have around in our network, I have the feeling that we can create the best result for our clients over and over again.’ From this quote, you can tell that Kars enjoys shooting different genres of photography because each photoshoot brings a different experience. He also enjoys working a team as everyone brings something different to the photoshoot.
I was drawn to this particular photograph because of the busy composition and cool colours. I like the way that the model is in the centre of the composition and that the background is blurred, so we can tell that the main focus of the photograph is the model. I also think that the model has a very strong expression on her face, which sets the mood of the photo. The pattern of the modern glass building in the background compliments the models outfit. I was inspired by this photo because for my project ' To Begin', my group is doing a fashion shoot using office wear to represent the people working in the Isle of dogs. I could possibly try similar techniques for my own photoshoot.
