Archiving Democracy:
The Obama Presidential Library and Archive

Graduate students in their final design studio at The University of New Mexico compete to design Barack Obama’s Presidential Library and Archive.

Archiving Democracy: The Obama Presidential Library and Archive was designed for Professor Kramer Woodard at The University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture and Planning. This monograph standardizes the work successfully completed by 20 graduate students in their final design studio—Arch 605—during the spring of 2014.

Each student chose to work with one of two sites: Chicago, Illinois or Honolulu, Hawai’i. The book's sections are broken up respectively and contain architectural drawings, renderings and other graphics unique to each project. “Archiving Democracy” was delivered to President Barack Obama prior to his leaving office in January 2017.
