Sukiya architecture is minimalist and highly organized, with an emphasis on surface. A tremendous amount of effort goes in to reduce the tea-house to its utmost essentials. You see nothing to indicate complexity, but underneath the clean surface lies a rigorous thought process. This is what good design is—elegant, simple, free of excess, with an underlying complex system of order, joinery and cohesion. Read Less
