Combining photography and pattern open up for investigations on visual narrative that lie beyond motifs or content of individual images.

The work "Finnkirka Forever" is a continuation of my previous project "On Reflection". It developed from one image captured by a web cam placed in Kjøllefjord, accessed online. The image I focused on, shown in the middle of the top sequence of the top image shown here, pictures the rock formation and landmark "Finnkirka" in Kjøllefjord.

Within pattern design, there are a number of standard procedures to make a repeat, to create visual rhythms or symmetries. A reflection, or a mirrored image, is one. The project explores different visual expressions of reflections, such as echoes, mirrorings, and opposites.

The images above show compositions of four / sixteen combined pattern compositions of one image. Also, I made 240 paper cubes based on the image as an installation, shown as a window exhibition at Verkstadsgatan 9, Stockholm, and presented at Spegla Photo Festival, Norrköping in October 2018.
