This is the story of a very special art catalogue that I designed for the Romanian sculptor Virgil Scripcariu
during my time as a graphic designer at AnnArt Gallery. The catalogue was launched during a solo show at the Gallery.
Because of the delicate nature of the works depicted, it was crucial that all colors are conveyed properly on matte paper. The catalogue was offset-printed and the artist came personally to sign the first good sheet that came from the printing machine. I further overlooked the production to make sure everything matched, including photographs that bled onto the neighboring sections.
In the end everything looked good - rough bronze surfaces and delicate silvers, wooden toy-like items with leather straps, the wonderful mirror-like cape of the main sculpture, Supermam, depicted on the book cover.
You can browse through the catalogue over here:
Here are some images from the launch of the catalogue. You can see the artist signing the first copies.
Virgil Scripcariu has a number of sculptures on display both in private collections and public spaces.
I am very proud to have been a part of this project.
Thank you!
