Hicimos esta restauración como un proyecto personal.
El libro pertenecía a la familia y se encontraba muy deteriorado por el uso. Al tener un lomo tan ancho, el peso de las hojas hizo que la costura (aunque en buen estado) se empiece a aflojar y las tapas estaban casi separadas, con el lomo ya borrado y gastado.

Lo que hicimos fue retirar todo el adhesivo y los refuerzos viejos y separamos la tapa.
Enderezamos el lomo y lo encolamos poniendo nuevos refuerzos. Planchamos algunas hojas y enderezamos las puntas.

Para conservar la tapa original del libro, separamos la tela del cartón con un bisturí y con una lija fina desgastamos el cartón adherido hasta dejarla en un grosor lo suficientemente fino para que sea flexible como un papel. La montamos sobre un papel fino y la cortamos al mismo tamaño que las hojas internas para colocarla al principio del libro.
Las tapas las hicimos completamente nuevas y nos divertimos mucho haciéndolas. Usamos una tela verde ingles para que mantenga la estética anterior, y la imprimimos con tipografías de madera y grabados antiguos de impresión, buscando siempre dibujos acordes a la temática del libro.

The book belonged to the familiy a long time ago, and was very damaged by the use.
Having such a wide spine, the weight of the leaves caused the sewing to begin to loosen and the covers were almost separated, with the spine already erased and worn.

We removed the old adhesive and reinforcements and separated the lid.
We straightened the spine and glued it with new reinforcements. We iron some sheets and straighten the tips.

To preserve the original cover of the book, we separated the fabric from the cardboard with a scalpel and with a fine sandpaper we removed the adhered cardboard until it was thin enough to be flexible as paper. We mounted it on a thin paper and cut it to the same size as the internal sheets to place it at the beginning of the book.
The covers were made completely to new and we had a lot of fun doing them. We use a greenish English cloth to maintain the previous aesthetic, and we printed it with wood typographies and old engravings, always looking for drawings according to the theme of the book.
