Handmade Cards Projects

I designed and created a range of underwater/seahorse themed cards and envelopes complete with a wave display stand.

Step by step pictures:
I used bubble wrap and watercolour paints to create a textured water background.
This technique sounds strange but it worked a treat! I used nappy liners... yep I know! The seahorse was drawn with a biro pen on the shiny side of the nappy liner then each layer is added and covered in PVA glue. When all the layers are added another nappy liner is added to cover everything and seal with a PVA glue layer. Then you just leave it to dry. It take about 24 hours or so but after you can cut the shapes out and they each have a plastic feel to them.
The inside disappearing pattern was a repeat pattern of a section of some samples I create then repeated on photoshop.
The envelopes were created on brown parcel paper. I created a net of the shape and then added card to thicken up the sides. I used cellulose thinners to print the detailed paper cut seahorse to all the designs.
The display rack was designed to be easily collapsible. Each panel is made from MDF and slots into the two side pieces - easier than IKEA! Behind each panel was a peg to attach the cards and envelopes.
