Making a Cave - MA Short Film
MA Short Film Cave Project

Job role: Art Director
This project had no budget for the Art Department and therefore required a lot of imagination.
The Director of the film required a cave that would could be used again a green screen. The cave needed to be able to stand on it's own and have an arched entrance. 

Heights required: 2.5m 
Width required: 4m

Me and my team were given four days to complete it.

How did we make it with no budget? 
(Basically - A lot of kind people!)

Firstly we managed to use some old set boards from a previous project at university that had the right scale to what we required. Then after measuring the space needed we visited prop and sculpture making companies in Cardiff that had cut off polystyrene scraps. We then asked around for anyone who had any left over wood glue and grey, brown and black paint that they didn't need anymore. We were very lucky to have such generous people to work with us within such a short space of time. If I did this project again I would use plaster or some sealant on the polystyrene before applying the paint.
