Dancing bananas, cats in space and flashing Russian browser brides, .gif's have come a long way over the last 30 years in becoming the internet phenomenon that they are today. We decided to host  "exhibit.gif" to celebrate this unique art form with a digital exhibition in a physical gallery space.

Each of the exhibitions was preceded by an open call for local and international.gif creators to submit work centered around a chosen theme. So far we've hosted three exhibitions where we have showcased the work of artists, designers, animators, filmmakers and first time .gif enthusiasts.
In total the event has shared over 400 .gifs.

While no entrance was charged at these events, the attendees could donate their spare change using the 'Gifs for Gifts' machine. Each donation resulted in a randomised thank you .gif playing and allowed these events to remain free and self funded.

We also hosted .gif jams in the lead up to the main event to allow first time .gif makers and experienced animators to meet up, share their .gif ideas and make submissions for the exhibition.
