The purpose of this short video is to support the advertorial promotion of a palette with eyeshadows
by the brand Huda Beauty. This specific palette is named after a cocktail drink (”Bloody Mary”) and the
colours of the palette correspond to the colours of the ingredients of the drink.This particular video is a part of a wider campaign which consists of several palettes all of which are named after different cocktails. The aesthetic of the approach is meant to be colourful, innovative, playfully provocative and non traditional, as the target group of the product includes mostly millenial women. The unique selling point of the palette lays in the unpredictable combination of the colours that are displayed and the instant reference of them to a fun and tasty activity such as the creation and consumption of a cocktail, which brings up positive vibes to the consumers and also expresses a notion of contemporary DIY culture. Stylewise, bright saturated colours are dominant in the photoshoot, whereas some sketchy, yet minimal doodling and hand-written typography are incorporated in the images to keep the result informal, approachable and casual. The title of the video refers humorously to the usual title of a diy tutorial (”How to...”) and presents the palette as the main feature unexpectedly. Afterwords, the synthesis of the cocktail is analysed step by step, by presenting each ingredient separately and relating it to the colour equivalent of the palette. Finally, the cocktail is served in a glass and a model with an eye make up look that has been created using the palette holds the drink and invites the audience to enjoy both. The duration is estimated in approximately 50 seconds.
