Revealing Space as a Natural Site

XXXII Cartagena International Architecture Workshop / Coastal Resilience
CONCEPT PHASE: LENS PRESENTATION - VISION
Using the Discoveries of first exercise as a point of departure, we had to  propose our own Visions of one or multiple future scenarios for Cartagena.
The Vision was structured upon this relevant following aspects:

        1.   Identify the coastal type they are working on using the Coastal Hazard Wheel.

        2.   Mapping of the relevant historical information of the coast and city.

        3.   Mapping of available numerical information relevant to the vision (geomorphoologic, hydraulic, flora/fauna, currents, topography.)

        4.   Mapping climate change hazards relevant to the vision (ecosystem disrupting, gradual inundation, rain water flooding, seal level rise flooding.)

For the future Visions of Cartagena, we analyzed some natural aspects that will affect the soil of the city caused by sea level rise or raining flood. We identified some natural empty spots of the surrounding neighborhoods that would be flooding on the future and the flooding future border line next to the Cannal Juan Angola.

The idea was to adapt the architecture of the houses near the canal to the future projection of floods. Additionally, generate public space in empty spaces such as flood basins with multiple activities. Achieving this, bringing the Juan Angola Cannal closer to people and therefore generating appropriation by the community with the surrounding ecosystem
