Limited Edition Red Bull Street Fighter V Character Cans
Brief
To design an eyecatching trophy presentation pack to house a Red Bull Street Fighter V competition trophy, seven limited edition Red Bull Street Fighter V character cans and a competition winners medal. The packaging must be strong enough to protect the trophy and its contents during transit to the winning competitor and be a spectacular piece of packaging, designed to entice the recipiant into opening it to reveal its contents.
To design an eyecatching trophy presentation pack to house a Red Bull Street Fighter V competition trophy, seven limited edition Red Bull Street Fighter V character cans and a competition winners medal. The packaging must be strong enough to protect the trophy and its contents during transit to the winning competitor and be a spectacular piece of packaging, designed to entice the recipiant into opening it to reveal its contents.
Execution
I focused on mimicing the interesting shape of the trophy and created a pentagonal prism shaped presentation pack. The pentagonal prism presentation pack was designed with a removable pentagon shaped lid, which held the pack securely together. Once removed a simple velcro catch could be unfastened to allow the prism shaped base to open out revealing the trophy. The internal faces of the presentation pack were lined with a dense foam to protect the trophy in transit. For extra protection during delivery to the recipient the presentation pack was also securely packed in specially designed air spaced outer packaging.
Reaction
The initial reaction from the marketing team at Red Bull on seeing the trophy packaging was that they loved the shape of the pack and thought that the simple reveal mechanic gave the pack a sense of theatre and added to the premium look and feel. They felt it complimented the trophy design and the simple graphics helped highlight the structural precision and interactive features during the unvailing of the trophy.
