Client Project: Royal Opera & London Ballet Company - Salome
Role: Graphic Designer
Tools: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Brief: This was an advertising campaign created on behalf of The Royal Opera and Royal Ballet company, London. The overall objective of the project was to encourage a younger generation to take an interest in the performing / theatrical arts, through the Richard Strauss adaptation of Oscar Wilde's original play Salome.
Solution: Advertising material produced for the Royal Opera House revolved around photographic images combined with type. I deiced to follow an illustrative path based around the graphical work produced by Saul Bass (Graphic Designer for Alfred Hitchcock Movies). I wanted to emulate his distinctive minimal style, injecting life into the graphics, making them as much a part of the theatrical experience with a sense of a cinematic feel to the brand design as a cinematic mood to the design would resonate more with the younger audience
Goals: The aim was to create a brand identity that would appeal to this newer, younger audience, a brand that would remove any stigmas that surrounded the theatrical arts, to show it was a profession and an interest that was open to everyone and anyone.
