Fashion Statements - Decoding Israeli Dress

After more than 100 years, a first of a kind exhibition on Israeli Fashion. The exhibition and catalog are based on a thorough research and encompasses major trends in fashion in Israel. The exhibition highlights themes which surpass time, such as religious and nationalistic symbolism, influences of traditional Jewish and Arab dress, a physical encounter between fashion designers and local scenery, and the ideological tension between socialism and bourgeois and the fashion scene.
It is a story of the debate between high aspirations with limited resources, and multiple ideologies which contradict each other in past and present.
