“Window” is a decorating magazine for readers who want to do interior design on a budget. The target customers are young people who cannot afford expensive decorating, as well the design of the magazine was focused on this demographic.
The magazine includes a large amount of photography about furnitures and interior design to show decoration plans to customers. For the cover design, the masthead was designed to symbolize a budget with a price tag hanging off of the “w” on the right. The lettering is an informal handwritten, almost how a sharpie would write a lowered price. The final element is the “o” which is depicted as if it was a window, relating the masthead to the decorating theme of the magazine. A visual element used repeatedly in the interior layouts is a large green brush mark. This is meant to represent a painting, one of the most common yet affordable means to alter the interior of a home.
