Lyric video we made for DOLF & Weird Genius ft. Rochelle.
Looking at the lyrics of this song, we had 'dreaming' and 'other worlds' as a starting point.
Therefore we decided to not tell a story from a to z, but to play with shapes and colors to create that dreamlike world.
Here and there we did place some illustrations of the singer to connect that dreamworld to her.

We cel animated everything and put it together in After Effects.
This proces was therefore like the one of making a puzzle. First we made all the individual assets and shapes and afterwards made the compositions and made everything fit and animate, following the music.
It was much fun woking this way and let the music lead the way and deciding how the animation would take shape.
For the typo we chose for a simple and clean font, placed in black blocks to separate it from the background. We liked the contrast of the clean and sharp look of the text in contrast of the more playful and organic animation. It got a bit of a poster/postcard vibe we loved.
