12 HOURS OF MOWERS
There are certain job proposals that seem so far out of the box that you want to laugh them off, but this certainly wasn't one of them! Seriously. Whilst some people might shun the idea of souping-up and racing a ride-on lawnmower, as a shamelessly self-confessed petrolhead any form of motorsport is worthwhile in my book and so I didn't hesitate to clear some time in my schedule to create the poster and flyer for the BLMRA (that's British Lawn Mower Racing Association) 12 Hour endurance race seen here.
The concept was fairly straightforward - a pastiche of the archetypal motor racing event posters of motor racing's heyday. Think Le Mans, think Monza, the Mille Miglia... Except with a bloke in a race suit and motocross helmet launching an old ride-on mower over the horizon instead of an Italian sports-car of yesteryear. So that's what I drew.
Never mind the poster though, I just hope that the competitors have decent padded underwear to hand...
